Double eagles were made from 1849 to 1932 at 5 different mints. Please post a new question with the date and mint mark.
It is worth whatever the gold price is. I'm assuming you have a US 1 oz gold eagle. If you do indeed have a one ounce gold eagle it is worth whatever 1 troy ounce of gold is worth. At the time of writing your coin would be worth about $1350. However, the price of gold fluctuates on a minute by minute basis.
July 16, 2009 In 1999, there were no $20 double eagle gold coins were produced by the US Mint. You may be refering to the American Gold Eagle coin. They were minted in $5, $10, $25 qnd $50 denominations. They were also minted in an Uncirculated coin and a Proof coin. If what you have is the $25 American Gold Eagle, then the Uncirculated coin is valued from $480 to $570 depending upon the condition of the coin. The Proof coin is valued from $625 to $750 depending upon the condition of the coin.
A 1996 American Eagle Bullion $5 gold coin in MS65 condition is worth: $ $110.
The largest denomination coin the US ever minted as currency was the $20 gold double-eagle.
If in uncirculated condition you are looking at several thousand dollars up to a million. Contact a coin dealer or a coin show they could tell you the exact amount but definitely looking into the thousands range.
"double eagle penny" is kind of an oxymoron. A double eagle coin has a face value of $20. However, a gold coin is probably worth considerably more than face value.
You tell me?
a lot.
It is an American Eagle gold coin, not a double eagle coin, it contains 1 ounce of pure gold, its value depends on the spot price of gold for example, today it would be worth just a bit less than $1,300. However, tomorrow it could be worth a lot more or a lot less, it just is dependent on the price of gold.
About $1000 regardless of mint mark, due to its gold content.
This specific coin in very fine condition is worth: $ 1700.00.
I have a 1883 $10.00 Gold Liberty Eagle. How much is it worth?
If you can find someone that collects this stuff, $5dollars maybe a little more..
A 1923 $20 Gold Coin - aka - Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle - in a mint state of MS63 is worth: $1500.
The ONLY legal 1933 double eagle sold in 2002 for $7,590,020.00
A certified example in MS-63 has a average retail value of $2,100.00
You have a Coronet Head $5 Dollar Half Eagle. If it has a (CC) Mintmark and in good condition it could be worth thousands. Double Eagle = $20 Eagle = $10 Half Eagle = $5 Quarter Eagle= $2.50
