This is a Copy of the the First $20 Gold coin but, just because it’s a copy doesn’t mean it’s not worth anything as this coins composition is made up of.100 copper and .900 GOLD for a net weight of .9074 Troy pure Gold! Adding it up .100 copper actually is the equivalent in Troy of .926 + .9074 would equal 1 Troy ounce but, since copper isn’t weighed this way total Gold weight is just shy of 1 Troy ounce by .926

The weight standard for all Morgan dollars is 26.73 grams
An unworn Morgan dollar has a nominal weight of 26.7 grams. All Morgan dollars (as well as Peace dollars) were struck in an alloy of 90% silver and 10% copper, so they contain about 24.1 gm of pure silver, or about 0.77 troy ounces.
26.73 grams.
The standard weight of all Morgan and Peace dollars is 26.73 gm.
They weigh 26.73 grams without any ware. If it is worn it may be slightly lower.
A Morgan silver dollar is a large dollar coin, on the front there should be a depiction of Lady Liberty's face wearing a small crown saying "LIBERTY" on it the reverse features an eagle with olive branches and arrows and a wreath at the bottom. They were dated 1878 to 1904 and also made in 1921. The only other coin that could be easily confused with a Morgan dollar is a Peace Dollar of which some were also minted in 1921, they have the same size, but the liberty on a Peace dollar looks like there are rays coming out of her head and the reverse of a Peace dollar has an eagle perched on a rock engraved PEACE.
A 1921 Morgan silver dollar contains 90% silver and weighs approximately 26.73 grams in total. To calculate the amount of silver in the coin: 90% of 26.73 grams = 24.06 grams of silver. So, a 1921 Morgan silver dollar has about 24.06 grams of silver.
1888 makes it a Morgan silver dollar, which has a weight of 26.73 grams and a diameter of 38.1 mm. A heavily worn specimen might weigh slightly less.
An 1891 dollar coin is a Morgan dollar, and therefore should weigh 26.73 grams. (This is the official weight when issued from the mint. If the coin was substantially circulated, it may weigh less due to wear.)
== == There is NO gold in a Morgan dollar. They are all large coins, 38.1 mm in diameter, and made of 90% silver and 10% copper as were all silver coins up till 1964. If the coin you have in question is truly an 1890 gold dollar it will be smaller than a dime and the specie weight value will be around $50.00. The coin must be seen to be properly appraised. As noted above the Morgan Dollar is a Silver Coin and not a gold piece.
