Can catfish kill people?...depending on size YES they can

Do catfish Kill people?....NO

The blue catfish is the largest species of catfish in the United States, the largest on record currently is 130 lbs and a length of 5 feet, though there are unconfirmed reports from mostly souther rivers/lakes/ponds of 150-180 lbs. and 5.5 feet - 6 feet in length...

Catfish have no teeth, they have upper and lower bone plates in the mouth that are like sand paper, ideal for grasping and holding prey.

A large 130-150 lb 5-6 foot long Blue cat (with a mouth of 10-12 inches) would have no problem grasping an adult humans hand, forearm or foot and drowning them in the water...A blue cat of this size would also have no problem drowning a child in the same manor...

There have been no reported deaths in the US by Catfish, however there have been reports of adults and children who have been bitten on the feet, legs or hands when they unknowingly swim, wade or place hands into areas where the blue cats are spawning...
