There is no legal definition of "assault rifle". If you mean an AR15 style rifle, then it depends on the rifle, and what you are hunting.
An AR15 firing .223/ 5.56mm can be used for small game. For big game, the rifle may not be capable of holding more than 6 rds of ammo, and must be .24 caliber or larger, with 1000 ft lbs of energy at 100 yards. The AR15 in .223 will not meet those standards. A larger AR, such as the AR10, could meet them. No fully automatic firearms may be used for hunting.
No state restrictions.
Kansas does not appear to have a state definition of "assault rifle", other than fully automatic firearms (machine guns). Link below is to a summary of Kansas state firearm laws.
A TRUE Assault Rifle is fully automatic. Federal law requires you be 21 to buy one of those in ANY state. However, what people may CALL an assault rifle (such as a semi-auto AK47) can be purchased at 18.
It depends on what you mean. Most people use the term assault rifle incorrectly. If you mean an AR-15, that is not an assault rifle. That is a semi-automatic magazine fed rifle, or, in current terms, a modern sporting rifle. AR-15 rifles are legal in every state in the U.S. as far as I know. Real assault rifles are legal in most but not all states, under certain restrictions.
In MOST states it is 18 to own any shoulder-fired weapon. In order to own what the military considers an assault rifle, you also have to have a Class 3 Federal Firearms Lisence, but some states and cities definition of an 'assault rifle' includes anything that looks dangerous and NO ONE is allowed to own one there.
No, it's allowed in every state.
Yes the background check for guns is the same in every state
An assault rifle is defined by the US State Dept and Dept of Defense as a "lightweight, select-fire rifle firing light to intermediate power rounds". The term "select-fire" means the rifle can fire EITHER semi-automatic or full automatic by the use of a selector (usually a switch). Since a TRUE assault rifle can fire full-auto, they are heavily regualted by the 1934 National Fireamrs Act. The Plinker Plus AR-15 is NOT an assault rifle, so the answer to your question is NO. If, however, you are looking for a basic entry level model semi-automatic rifle that bears a resemblence to the M16, you could do worse.
Rifle, Colorado, has an elevation of approximately 5,570 feet (1,698 meters) above sea level. It is located in the western part of the state, near the confluence of the Rifle Creek and the Colorado River. The area's elevation contributes to its varied climate and outdoor recreational opportunities.
you might also need to check with state laws, cuz not all states are the same when it comes to firearms
In most states the government will not prosecute someone under the age of 12. Colorado has charged 12 year olds with crimes.
In Colorado it will depend on what the specific charges are but in general the statute of limitations for assault will be set at 10 years. Other felonies are set at 3 years. Misdemeanors will be set at 18 months unless it is 3rd degree sexual assault which is set at 5 years. There is a 5 year extension if the individual is absent from the state.
