While gun oil can lubricate a fishing reel, it is not ideal for cleaning it. Gun oil is designed for firearms and may not effectively remove dirt, salt, or corrosion found on fishing reels. For best results, use a cleaner specifically formulated for fishing reels, along with appropriate lubricants designed for the fishing industry. This ensures proper maintenance and longevity of the reel's components.
