Can you use sardines from a can for fishing bait?

I am going to talk about a few different fishing styles and what types of fishing bait works best for each one.

Carp Fishing

Carp fishing is a little bit different then other types of fishing. The kind of fishing bait that works best with carp fishing is luncheon meat. This includes meats such as turkey, spam, ham and other types of meats.

This type of fishing bait has been used a lot in the past but it still works just as good today as it does back then. An alternative that you can use for carp fishing as well is boilies and pellets.

Walleye Fishing

From my own personal experience I have found that spinners tend to work the best when Walleye fishing. These lures work great at getting the fish's attention and hooking one on your line. In addition to spinners, you can try jigs as well.

A deadly combination is to use a jig and put on a minnow as well. This way you have synthetic bait and live bait mixed together on the same line. I have found that this combination tends to work very well at attracting fish.

Trout Fishing

The best way to go about catching trout is to get some sort of synthetic powerbait and strap that onto your hook. These baits work extremely well when equipped with a gang hook.

Live bait also tends to work very well for trout fishing as well. You will probably need to use a combination of the two in order to get the best results.

So there are a few tips that you can try out when trying to figure out what type of fishing bait to use. Each type of fishing requires that you use different kinds of fishing bait so be sure to experiment often.

I would like to add this if you are fishing for sunfish, panfish, or bluegill, shell crackers, red ears. Ham in small pieces would work just fine to catch these fish. This would not be my first choice in baits for these fish. But if I was on my lunch break while fishing and forgot my baits ham should work just fine.

Yes! smoked herring is a secret weapon in bringing in big game fish. The smell from the smoked herring is very unique in the water. I have caught everything from striped bass, to sharks, to blue fish and even red snapper and others with smoked herring.

to use smoked herring follow these simple instructions:

on a lure, just rub lure on a piece of smoked fish, or leave your lures in a plastic bag with a piece of fish for a day or two.

For bottom feeders, place on hook and sinker. Bring in the largest cat/shark or other tempted fish that swims by.

You can, but they won't stay on the hook long, if at all. However, if you like to fish for catfish, take a few cans of sardines, punch several holes in the cans. Tie a mesh bag to a rope, place the cans of punctured sardines in the bag, and sink it with a weight. In a day come back and fish near the bag. You will catch tons of catfish.
