The spill has been a terrible blow to the fishing - see related links. The fact that oil is still flowing in the gulf means that in the short term, things are likely to get worse. BP plans to complete relief wells by August, and once the well is plugged, things should improve.

There are many media articles about the economic impact. Some of the fisherman are using their boats in the clean up effort, and getting paid for it. But I'm sure they'd rather be fishing.
