Folks we are talking about the University of Oregon sport teams here. The University of Oregon have as their mascot the Duck. These sports would include football, basketball, baseball, track, etc. The University of Oregon is doing rather well in the field of football these past few years. But for Oregonians this is a very subjective question, we either love them or we hate them. This is mainly due to the "political flavor" of the school. The University of Oregon is located in Eugene, Oregon in the very heart of the Willamette Valley. Its "political flavor" is liberal, so it tends to appeal to those from the big cities, such as Portland, Salem, Bend, Medford and of course Eugene. The study of Law is a big at U of O, so it produces many lawyers. And we all love lawyers, right? U of O's big competition is Oregon State University (mascot = the Beaver) located in Corvallis, Oregon just a few miles north in the same Willamette Valley. Its "political flavor" is conservative, so it tends to appeal to those from the rural areas of Oregon, basically any where outside the above mentioned big cities. The study of Agriculture is big at OSU, These are, of course, overly simplified statements and there are very many exceptions to these above "rules". So to answer the question, we love them when the "enemy" is from outside the state, but at the big "civil war" game between UO and OSU we go with our personal favorites, mine being the Beavers of course. But folks it just a game!
