This reel has been deemed a collectors item. Now back to the question. (Is a Penn 60 Long Beach reel valuable?) They can be bought on Ebay pretty cheap. As with any collectible the condition will be a determining factor in it`s value. Prices will increase as demand grows and supplies dry up. One worth holding on to.
they stoped makein em in 1971 so 50 to 20,000 big Ds

I don't think its valuable... But Penn does make good reels and some of them are fairly expensive.
The strongest fishing reel will typically be a heavy-duty conventional reel designed for offshore fishing, such as the Shimano Tiagra or Penn International series. These reels are built with durable materials and high drag capacities to handle large and powerful fish.
Depends on the buyer if someone had a reel like that when young, but for some reason don't now. They might pay considerably for one, as a collector reel there's so many out there the price probably isn't that much.
