1. Excavate the area where your rain catchment tank will be.
2. Build a retaining wall to prevent erosion and mudslides.

In rooftop rainwater harvesting, we use the water collected on rooftops instead of letting it go down the drain. We can also use water collected in dugout ponds, underground vessels etc. Drain harvesting involves letting water collected in roadside drains go straight to the ground. But this water has to be treated before use as it may contain bird faeces, germs and other pollutants.
