There is a massive debate about this question, and there is no true answer to it. In my opinion, it's bad unless the circumstances dictate otherwise (e.g. a bear is attacking livestock, and the only way to stop it is to kill it, or something similar). Many people believe that it is wrong to kill another living thing unnecessarily. It can also conflict with various religious or spiritual people's beliefs, such as the killing or hunting of the Wolf is unacceptable to a high proportion of the Native American population, as they have a strong spiritual connection to it. A local Ranch owner may think very differently about the same animal though- it is the enemy of his livestock, after all, and therefore an enemy of himself. The hunting of the fox (as I have only just noticed you put fox in the tag) in my opinion is wrong, however the recent boldness of them (raiding rubbish bins and entering suburban areas- sometimes even attacking people), means that people are beginning to wish the fox away, and hoping for the reintroduction of the ability to hunt them legally.

That was quite a long answer, wasn't it? Sorry about that ^^, but this is a short question with a long, arguable answer. Hope it helps anyway though xxx
