Windmills have made a huge comeback. The modern windmill is very tall, very thin and usually has four large air foil type blades. They are used to generate electricity. In the mid-west of the US, windmills are often used to power a pump to fill livestock watering holes. There are places, such as Holland, where they are still used to mill grain and to pump water.
