Prior to the 1968 Gun Control Act, most 22 rifles were not serialy numbered. Ranger was a brand used by the Sears Roebuck company (and others). There is no way we can give you a date and value. If it is a working .22 rifle, value would be between $75-$150, depending on condition.

Slide the Top Lever to the right to open the chamber. Turn the shotgun upside down. Look at the end of the barrel between the receiver and barrel. Get a flashlight and you'll see a series of numbers stamped in the bottom of the barrel.
