Make sure your blade is sharpened periodically. Pine cones, small branches and leaves dull your blade. Even grass itself will dull a blade so it is best to have your blade professionally sharpened. You can purchase over the counter blade sharpeing products and depending on how handy y0ou are, these can work well too. Another culprit of clumping can be the dampness and length of the grass itself when you mow. Early morning dew can create a wetness similar to rain depending on the humidity, cloud cover and lack of wind. Consider later times in the day when the sun or wind has had a chance to dry out your lawn. Finally, the underside if the mower where the blade is housed can collect grass and/or a combination of mud and grass. Inspecting undercarriage of the mower (while it is turned off of course) will allow you to determine if a cleaning is necessary. Use an ordinary gard hose with a sprayer attachment helps poer out that built up debris. Happy mowing!
