You have answered your own question. You sleep in a tent. But if you mean how do you sleep comfortably in a tent then this will help.
I have spent thousands of hours sleeping in a tent and there are many things that you can do to make your sleep comfortable. Since there are many different types of tents I will give you many different ideas.
In large tents that give you plenty of room, you may opt to use camping cots to lay on. Some cots are as simple as canvas strung between a frame and others have a cushion made into them. The cushioned cots afford you the most comfort and in the winter they are better because the cushion insulates you from any cold air that passes between the cot and the ground. Cots also will keep you dry should there be a downpour and the site that you chose for the tent is in a gully. Been there, did that, didn't have a cot, got wet. Miserable night but learned a valuable lesson about where to not pitch the tent.
In some large outfitter type wall tents there may even be a wood stove inside with a chimney. Never improvise! Only use the tent as the instructions direct.
Air mattresses are great and afford a lot of comfort. They also keep you off the cold ground and when you pitch your tent in a gully and the water comes up, you will float. Didn't have an air mattress either.
When you set up your tent, especially if you are going to be sleeping on the ground, pay close attention to the ground prior to spreading out the tent and setting it up. Clean up the area where the tent will be of all rocks and sticks and anything that will wake you up all night long because it is sticking you in the back. Once the tent is up, it's up.
Place a blanket or your coat under your sleeping bag to help cushion and insulate you from the ground.
If it is cold out, change our socks before going to bed. The socks and clothes that you wore all day long have built up sweat and they will not let your feet or you get warm. Nothing worse than waking up with cold feet. Except the stick that you missed when you set up the tent.
NEVER, EVER, try and heat the inside of the tent with a camp stove or charcoal. Campers have died from this. Carbon monoxide poisoning. You will sleep well but you WILL NOT WAKE UP! EVER!
Enjoy yourself. I have camped in tents my whole life and still love it. Be safe, have fun.
(secret tip) If your tent is canvas and it is raining and your tent is not leaking, DO NOT reach up and touch the roof to see if it is wet. It will then leak there for the rest of the rain storm until the tent dries. As before, Been there, done that, got wet. drip, drip, drip
