As far as I know, painters don't use knives. What I think you could be asking is a putty knife used by drywallers.
Its main function is to blend colors. Many painters use a 'pallete' (a flat board that can be hand held) to hold paint to be applied to the substrate (usually a canvas). A pallete knife is used to combine two or more colors on the board to make a new or intermediate color. Also, some painters use these knives to apply paint to the work. at these times the knife functions more like a brush. See related link. You can see the artist has blended colors on the pallete.
either use goof off or goo gone to remove and if your able use a putty knife and just scrape it off. good luck

To find out how many days the paint will last for 18 painters, we can use the concept of painter-days, which is the product of the number of painters and the number of days. For 42 painters lasting 96 days, the total painter-days is 42 painters × 96 days = 4032 painter-days. Dividing that by 18 painters gives us 4032 painter-days ÷ 18 painters = 224 days. Thus, the paint will last 18 painters for 224 days.
