For ease in slap bass, you need high action. "Action" in this sense simply means how high your strings are from your fingerboard.
Because each bass is hand made and different, each bridge is going to have different measurements of what is "high" action and what is "low" action. Instead of looking at the bridge, look at the octave point on your strings (exact halfway point from nut to bridge).
So, what is high action? Assuming your fingerboard isn't horribly warped, you should have at least a half an inch of space between your string and the fingerboard. This gives you enough space for your fingers to curl under the strings in order to pull the string back and snap it against the fingerboard.

To adjust the height of a guitar bridge pickup for optimal tone and playability, start by setting it parallel to the strings. Then, experiment by raising or lowering the pickup in small increments to find the sweet spot where the tone is clear and balanced. Listen carefully and adjust until you achieve the desired sound and playability.
