It is Mount Mitchell, measuring 2,037 metres (6,684 ft.).
The highest point on the Appalachians I am aware of is under 9K feet. The Rockies exceed 14K feet. That does not mean that you don't have mountain issues when flying over the Appalachians! I have had more trouble flying over the Hickory mountain in the south then any other mountain in the country!
The Rockies have higher elevations than the Appalachians. The highest peak in the Rockies, Mount Elbert, reaches over 14,000 feet, while the highest peak in the Appalachians, Mount Mitchell, reaches around 6,600 feet.

The Appalachian Mountains run through the eastern United States. Mount Mitchell in North Carolina is the highest point of the Appalachians at 6,684 feet.
