How big is a Destroyer?

The size of a destroyer has varied over time. The modern destroyer is bigger than some of the cruisers of WWI. They are not that much smaller than some of the early battleships.

However, it is difficult to find the exact average size. In 1898, A US Navy Destroyer was 175 ft, WW 2, 376 ft long and 40 ft wide. Today, over 500 ft long.
