the JC Higgins (High Standard) Model 50 is a FN mauser action.
and large ring mauser bases will work on it.

The Weaver number 46 front work great on the front and the number 45 rear work on some but not all. The early ones had a longer center to center distance between the mounting holes and no one makes mounts that fit them anymore. I've owned two model 50's and both had the wider mounting holes and I was forced to drill and tap another hole to match the number 45. Otherwise you can only use one of the screws to hold down the rear mount. They did at one time make mounts for the model 50 but have long since stopped making it. If your lucky enough to run across a set then good for you.
I have a J. C. Higgins model 10516 with the original 4X scope . The scope mount says J.C. Higgins 4X PATD , MFD by W.R. Weaver Co. El Paso TX. IT also has N3 stamped on the mount. Hope this helps.
weaver refers to the type of scope mounts the scope uses. a weaver scope can mount on any rail size.
Burris, Leopold, Weaver to name a few.
front=55 back =21A
Scope mounts that mount on the left side of the receiver using the four screw holes are available from Weaver.
No, the word weaver is not an adverb.The word weaver is a noun. It describes a person who performs the action of weaving.
Weaver
Marvel Custom Guns makes a scope base that replaces the sight rib on a Victor and uses Weaver rings.
$600-900 ish is what i would guess
That gun was made by Marlin for Sears, and those holes are not factory. Someone has drilled and tapped it for (probably) a Weaver side-mount base.
