In Texas, individuals as young as 9 years old can take the Hunter Education course. However, those under 17 must complete the course to hunt unsupervised. The course is designed to teach safe hunting practices and is required for anyone born on or after September 2, 1971, who wants to hunt in Texas.
yes hunting is safe as long as you take a course
One can take an online defensive driving course that is approved by the state of Texas by simply visiting the website Texas Drive Safe or the website I Drive Safely.
In Texas, a regulation for hunting is that hunting is allowed only during open seasons times. Like many other states, Texas also requires a hunting license to be purchased regardless of age.
I would recommend an online one, http://www.fastandstressfreetrafficschool.com/Texas/ . Check the course demo before trying the driving safety course.

Of course it is! That's what no hunting areas are.
Yes!
There are 2 ways to get your Texas Hunter Education Certificate: (1) you can take the 2 day field course that will take roughly 14 hrs of your time. It costs about $15 and involves splitting time between the classroom and the field. Alternatively, (2) you can take an on-line hunter safety prep course (Hunter Exam has the best one right now) and at the end of it, you get a voucher saying that you've taken the course and then you book a 4 hr field course somewhere locally which usually involves a brief review and then the exam.I would say the field course is for the people who have no experience in hunting and have the entire weekend to dedicate to learning but the on-line route is better for those that don't have the full weekend to dedicate to this and already have some experience in hunting.
You do if you want to hunt on something besides your own property. If you only want a landowner's permit, then no course in needed.
There are numerous websites featuring guides that are available for hunting trips in Texas. It all depends on what you're hunting, as well as what part of Texas you'll be in. One company that covers all of Texas and may have good information is http://www.hunting-in-texas.com/
