Who caught the biggest bass in the US?

George W. Perry holds the current world record for largemouth bass caught June 2, 1932 in Georgia which weighed 22 lbs 4 oz.

In 2007 Mac Weakley caught a bass that reportedly weighed 25 lbs 1 oz from a lake in California, however he chose not to submit it for consideration as a new world record. The fish was released alive back into the lake where it was caught.
Generally, with respect to bass fishing, people talk about Smallmouth Bass or Largemouth Bass. There are other types of bass as well. The records for each are:

- Smallmouth bass was caught in Kentucky in 1955 and weighed 5.4 kg (11.9 lb). It measured 68.6 cm (27 in) long and 54.9 cm (21.7 in) in girth.

- Largemouth Bass record is 22 lbs 5 oz caught in Japan

Well at first it the record belonged to David Hayes , his fish was weighed and it turned out to be 11 pounds and 15 ounces with a 2/3 inch girth and a hefty length of 27 inches.

After much controversy, it was found that he cheated by stuffing the fish with metal weights.

The IGFA, after a thorough investigation, decided to give the new record to John Gorman. His fish weighed 10 pounds and 14 ounces. It was caught in 1969 on the same lake as David Hayes's.

The official record was taken in Montgomery Lake, Georgia, in 1932 by George Perry.

This fish was 22 pounds, four ounces. A bigger fish was caught in Lake Dixon, California that was 25 pounds, but this record did not count because the fish was foul hooked in the side, and they must be caught by biting the lure. This unfortunate angler lost nearly ten million dollars for the reward and endorsements it is estimated.
