Many of the workers were afraid of heights. Kellsy however was not, he was known for doing stunts like walking on his hand along the very top of the Hotel Alex Johnson Hotel in Rapid City South Dakota. He work on many projects through out the Black Hill, such as the old bridge that used to take you into Hill City.

First of all, there is no place to go "in the noses". There are only depressions in the rock which form the nostrils. The only ones allowed to be on the actual faces on Mount Rushmore are those who do the maintenance work. Those workers would be the only ones who climb the noses.
