I have used the solid North Dex composite cedar decking. I like it. I have had it installed for over a year and no major downside to go with the savings, so far. It has faded to almost a light brown, instead of the original cedar color. Personally, I prefer this, as it doesn't get as hot. The traction seems to be good. It is no longer slick looking either, also don't mind this. I have not tried to clean it yet, but am adding on a bigger deck now, and plan to buy an power washer to clean it. Doesn't really need it yet, but I want a power washer anyway. I installed the first deck with stainless steel screws with a very small head, these mushroomed a little, but less than the screws that claim not to mushroom. For my current deck I am using a nail gun, with finishing nails. Definitely better, faster, and you can barely see where they go in.
