China is pouring billions of dollars into modernizing Tiber, building railways, building houses, factories etc...Without China Tibet would probably be known as a 3rd world country surviving on donations from other countries since their monks have no way or making money or putting food on the table...China is trying to make Tibet into a modern country whilst also keeping the temples and all the ancient things in place and not destroying them.
