General Overview

Paris, France is known as the city of lights and a city of lovers. Because of this, Paris has historically conjured enticing visions of romance and luxury. Paris is the capital city of France and is a cultural and historical hotbed as well as a major center for present-day politics. The city is characterized by the perfect marriage of new and old and a precise blend of contemporary and ornate styles. This carefully calculated though lavish pairing is what gives Paris most of its intrigue.

In fact, Paris is among the most popular vacation destinations in the entire world. Its long and rich history has granted the city much to see and do. The city is located right along the river Seine. The river serves as an iconic symbol of the romantic atmosphere that engulfs the city. However since Paris is also known as one of the world’s capitals of high fashion, keeping the city modern, current and relevant. Paris is a place where tourists can truly choose to relax, or not.

Arts and Entertainment

Paris is known worldwide for its exquisite and intricate architecture and designs. This is a main attraction to tourists who enjoy a wide variety of arts. Places of centuries past remain as statuesque reminders of days of wealth and continental power. However, for those interested in finer arts, Paris is also home to the Louvre, a world renowned art museum filled with pieces from antiquity and delicate Renaissance masterpieces. The streets of Paris are works of art in and of themselves.

As far as entertainment and the performing arts, L’Opera Garnier is essentially the national opera house and is still a functioning stage for year round operas, plays and ballets. The performing arts have had a vital role in Parisian culture. Most of the old opera houses and theater venues are, still, in commission. The vintage grandeur of these Parisian opera houses adds to the romantic appeal of going to the opera.

Food and Drink

Another famous feature that epitomizes Paris is the elaborate and expensive cuisine. Since there is an incredibly diverse population in Paris, the food can have both a truly eclectic and rich luxurious feel to it. Parisian food, in keeping with French food, has a vast deal of herbs and seasonings, as well as creamy sauces. Another major part of French cuisine is the importance of wines and cheeses. These serve as a delicious snack or appetizer, at any time of day.

Also, as the fashion world influences art and culture in Paris, it also serves to encourage many Parisian chefs to come up with new and exciting ways to prepare food and dishes, to continue to keep people interested in trying new and innovative formats.
