Begin counting your cycle with the first day of your period as day 1. Ovulation is a 1 or 2 day window around day 14 (on average, the exact time can change greatly even if you have a perfectly regular cycle... get a fertility test to determine this more accurately.) Ideally, you should have sex once every two or three days, beginning several days after your period ends, and continuing a few days after ovulation. Sperm can live for up to a week inside you, and you only need to have viable sperm in your uterus and fallopian tubes during the ovulation window to get pregnant. Your best chance at getting pregnant is a couple days before ovulation, and then again during the beginning of ovulation.
