Some of the most basic physical needs for children are food, shelter, clothing, and exercise. It doesn't really stop there though.

"Food" can be anything, but it takes a nutritious diet and regular meal times to provide for the real needs in this area. Regular meal times and proper diet promote healthy eating now and later in life.

Providing shelter is important, but also taking the necessary precautions to be sure it is a safe, smoke free, fume free, warm, clean, and healthy environment is just as important as the roof they live under.

Same goes for clothing. Every season is different. You can't really say "I provide my children with the basic need of clothes" if you're making them wear shorts in the middle of winter. It's important to make sure they have adequate clothing for the weather as well.

Exersise is a biggie. More and more kids are spending time watching TV or playing Video Games while their parents work or whatever else it is they might be doing. Kids need to get outside. They need to hop, skip, jump, run, walk, and anything else you can think up to get their bodies moving. It's sad how many kids don't get the exercise they need nowadays. More and more are becoming obese and to top it off (even if there may be no signs of significant weight gain) kids are showing early signs of heart problems. It's not more than a rare ocassion that a child has a heart attack, but what about later in life? Get them moving so they don't have one when they're 30!

Which brings me to another basic need. Medical care. It's important that children receive vaccinations on time and have regular check-ups. It's a great start to a healthy life!

I'm no expert and I'm sure there are many other things that others can add or revise, but it's a start. Hope this helps.
