Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, is often said to be the daughter of Zeus and Dione in some myths. However, in the more ancient and popular version, she was born from the sea foam (aphros) that formed around the severed genitals of Uranus, the sky god, after they were cast into the ocean by his son Cronus. This makes her origins somewhat unique, as she emerges directly from a primordial element rather than from traditional parental lineage.
Aphrodite has no mother or father; she was born from the sea.
