Yes, I think it is.
Without the right types of shoes you cannot do Irish dancing. It is much the same as tap dancers need special kinds of shoes. There are two main types of shoes for Irish dancing: hard shoes and soft shoes. These are needed for the different styles of dancing.
They're essentially the same thing. Only Dancesport usually refers only to competitive ballroom/latin dancing. Ballroom dancing itself can be competitive or recreational. Hope this helped!
Because your moving your body and having fun....that's what dancing is all about
Street dancing and break dancing are different things. Then can often be seen together, as a routine, but they can be seperatley. Break dancing is floor work, and can involve street dancing where you are not on the floor. Sheena x

Irish dancing is pretty much just swinging your legs around in fancy ways and you will have the same genre of music. With tap dancing you have metal attached to the bottom of your shoes and it makes a noise, you can make any rhythm, beat, or sound you can with these. You also will not be sticking to the same genre of music with tap dancing. Tap dancing is really great, no offense to any Irish dancers. Also in Irish you keep very straight and your arms at your sides. Whereas in tap dancing you use your arms and you have to bend your legs and bounce but not too much. This answer was written by by person who is deeply prejudiced and clearly knows nothing about irish dance ^. Please do your research before answering these questions. Watch the movie 'jig' for an idea of irish dance or watch it at a competition, visit the irish dance section on dance.net, the clrg website or irish dancing.com for more. As an irish dancer as well as a ballet and modern jazz dancer I know the person speaking isn't a true dancer as they wouldn't have the disrespect for another dance form if they were. I think tap dancing is really cool, but this answer isn't.
Irish dance is pretty simalar to those performing companies, but the performers are very high level and practice a lot. You can get to that eventually! Also, you don't always have to Irish dance in a group, plenty of dances are done solo. Other than that they are pretty much the same thing, but Irish dancers don't HAVE to perform.I know all this because I have been doing Irish dance for several years and have seen the River Dance. Neither. ISD is more formal and traditional. You keep your arms at your side and not at your hip.I should know. I do it. :) Irish Dance is more like River Dance but yes, it is neither.:D i do it also :P
No, basin refers to the drainage area of the Amazon River while forest refers to the forest around the river. They are synonymous but not the same thing
