in the play bernard who was once a geek, becomes a very successful lawyer, it is said "he is going to argue a case in front of the supreme court" this is ironic as willy himself said bernard would never be successful and biff would be fantastic. when it turns out bernard is super successful willy is confused as to why bernard was successful and biff not.
