The Friar will first send a note to Romeo explaining that when he hears of Juliet's death, he shouldn't believe it. Then Juliet is to take the drug that will fake her death so when she wakes up in her tomb (after her 'funeral'), Romeo would be there and they'll sneak off to Mantua together. This allows them to be together peacefully even though Romeo is banished.

of course this doesn't work out because Romeo never get's the Friar's note. So he ends up committing suicide by her side in the tomb right before she wakes up. Then, of course, realizing her beloved love is dead, Juliet stabs herself with his knife he had on him. Thus the famous phrase "oh happy dagger"
