The history of Lindy Hop begins in the African American communities of Harlem, New York. African dancing moves all parts of the body, similar to the Lindy Hop. During the time of slavery, African slaves wanted to find ways to entertain themselves and others around them, they did this through dance and music which then became very popular back then.
