It was Shakespeare's job that took him away from Stratford and his family, who he cared about enough to take all his savings and buy them the second-largest house in Stratford in 1597, only three years after becoming a partner in The Lord Chamberlain's Men. Clearly a lot of his earnings must have been put towards saving for that house.
