Yes. Court records show that The King's Men performed a number of times before King James and his family, all of whom were strong patrons of the theatre. In particular, the records of the Master of the King's Revels Edward Tilney between Nov. 1, 1604 and Easter 1605 show that the King's Men performed eleven times before the king, including the Shakespeare plays Henry V, Merchant of Venice, Othello, Merry Wives of Windsor, Measure for Measure, The Comedy of Errors and Love's Labour's Lost. The King liked The Merchant of Venice so much that he asked for it to be played for him a second time. Tilney identifies the "poet who made the plays" as "Shaxberd".
One penny.
Presumably because they do not have an internet connection or a DVD player or access to a theatre so they can watch them be performed as was intended. Shakespeare did not intend that anyone apart from the actors should read his plays. Everyone else was to pay admission and watch.
hmm...i think that'll be an opinion question. if it is homework help then just put what you think of it by common sense. (i would say horrified since there is just TV and no one gets off their butts, and watch plays ☺)
When people used to go and watch perfomances in the Globe, the wealthy, or as you would say "the posh people" would sit on the seats in the theatre.
yes
It is not possible to do such a thing in 2012
One penny.
People watching Shakespeare's plays would either be sitting or standing. If the people had extra money they could pay for the privilege of sitting during the play. The poorer people would have to stand in the theater pit to watch the play but there tickets were much cheaper.
