Absolutely. We have a record of his baptism, of his marriage and of his death. You can see his gravestone if you like, along with a statue of him his family put up after his death. He is buried alongside of his wife and one of his daughters. There are a number of legal papers concerning him, including evidence he gave in lawsuits, the deeds to properties he purchased, and his application for a coat of arms, in which he is described as a "player" or actor. There are all kinds of records of him being an actor, a member of his theatre company, a part owner of two theatres and an author. That's a lot of traces to leave behind if you didn't exist.
