No, they do not all sound the same. I would recommend the Boose Audio home stereo system. Boose has great quality and you can hook up the speakers around your home and near the TV. It will give you that movie quality sound you were looking for.

What is Audio Out?

An audio out is the place where you would plug in the item you want your sound to come out of, most commonly your speaker. This connection can vary depending on your application. If it is live sound you are talking about then normally an audio output would be from an amp to a speaker. The same goes for home theater applications, your source might be your home receiver and your output would be to your speakers.

What is a optical audio cable used for?

An optical audio cable is used to transmit digital audio (AC-3) signal from the source to the receiver, such as from a DVD player to a digital audio amplifier/receiver. You can transmit 5.1 dolby digital or DTS surround sound with an optical audio cable, same as digital coaxial audio cable.

Does dvi cables carry sound?

No, DVI cables do not carry sound. They are designed to carry just video signals, therefore you will need a separate audio connection to hear the sound. If you have an HDMI connection, then you can use this to carry the video and the sound down the same cable.

Why audio is not coming in TV when laptop is connected with HDMI cable?

Computers are increasingly using digital video instead of VGA. Many computers now have a DVI connector in addition to the standard VGA connector. DVI carries digital video and happens to be the same signal format as used in HDMI cables. Using a DVI to HDMI cable allows most modern televisions to display the computer screen. There is one large difference between DVI and HDMI in that DVI connectors do not carry audio. If the computer has a DVI connector, there is definitely no audio carried. If the laptop has an HDMI connector, it may be the case that it still carries no audio. Some computers use HDMI as the video connector to save space but retain the DVI signal format, missing the audio signal completely. If this is the case, all is not lost. Most televisions that have an HDMI input also have an analog audio input connector linked to the same input. The setup menu normally allows a selection of digital audio (using the HDMI cable) or analog (using the analog connectors). If there is more than one HDMI input the analog option may be on just one connector. If this does not solve the sound problem, there might be a problem with the audio output on the computer itself. A search through the control panel help to eliminate the problem.

What audio port connects to external home theatre audio systems providing digital audio output?

Look for a connector labeled Optical out or Coaxial audio out on the back of the tv set. Your home theater system will need one of these same input connectors.

How are sound engineers and audio engineers different?

Mixing is a part of audio engineering. Mixing occurs after the recording process and before the mastering process. Recording, mixing, and mastering engineers are all audio engineers because they all deal with audio.

What detetrmines sound quality?

The determination of sound quality or audio fidelity is strictly up to what's behind the ears of the listener. The science of fidelity, or the degree to which an electronic system accurately reproduces the sound or image of its input signal, has a prescribed set of parameters to define high fidelity (Hi-Fi). However these parameters are subject to varying interpretations. An average listener or novice may not be able to distinguish the difference in fidelity between a moderate priced three-figure home theater sound system and sound systems costing five-figures or even mid-six figure systems. The audiophile, or one that is passionate about sound quality, can detect normally imperceptible audio fidelity differences by testing two different systems playing the same music in a carefully controlled environment.

When buying a surround sound system what does no video input mean?

The system does no video switching, a audio only system, where other systems will switch AUDIO and VIDEO both at the same time.OR if it is a A/V type it means the unit has some inputs that do not have video such as a CD Player. This is normal.

What is the difference in CD music and CD-R?

Digital Audio CD-Rs are made specifically for home audio cd recording systems. Most home audio systems have "standalone" CD recorders, not attached to a computer, and they require a CD-R that is made specifically for Digital Audio recorders. Some manufacturers also call them Music Only CD-R or Audio CD-R. These CD-Rs are Digital Audio recorders approved and will work in standalone CD recorders. A Digital Audio CD-R uses a SCMS copy-protection flag in the sub-code section of the CD-R. SCMS is the acronym for Serial Copy Management System. Home audio standalone CD recorders are designed to look for the SCMS flag in the sub-code section before allowing the unit to record. If there is no SCMS flag the recorder will not allow recording and the CD-R will be rejected. If a CD-R is labeled Digital Audio CD-R it has the SCMS flag and will therefore work in standalone home audio CD recorders

Will a RCA home theater system work with a Sony Bravia TV?

Yes, use the audio OUT on the TV to connect to the audio IN connectors on the sound system. Then look at the menu for audio adjustments or settings and select VARIABLE. This means turning the tv sound up and down will also make the new speakers follow the volume control on the remote. In the same menu turn the internal speakers OFF. We don't want to mix the tv's internal speakers with the new RCA sound system.
