There is a story that they flew different coloured flags to say what kind of play it was. However, the fact is that plays did not and do not fall so easily into those categories. As Polonius says, it could be "tragedy, comedy, history, pastoral, pastoral-comical, historical-pastoral, tragical-historical, tragical-comical-historical-pastoral". What colour flag would they fly for "tragical-comical-historical-pastoral"?
Anyway, nobody seems to know where this coloured flag idea comes from. It may be something someone thought up in the 19th century.

Plays are usually shown in a theatre.
The original Globe was burnt down in 1613, a new one was built in 1614 and closed in 1642, the latest one (which is about 230 meters from the original site) was built in 1997 which is a circular shape. The actual dimensions of the theatre are unknown, but its shape and size can be approximated.Archaeological and other evidence suggests that it was a three-storey, open-air building approximately 100 feet (30 m) in diameter. The Globe is shown as round on Wenceslas Holler's sketch of the building, later incorporated into his etching Long View of London from Bankside in 1647.In 1988-89, the uncovering of a small part of the Globe's foundation suggested that it was a polygon of 20 sides.

The Queen would have never set foot in a playhouse like The Globe. Plays at the Globe were attended by the lower class citizens. She did, however, enjoy watching plays at indoor playhouses or at her castle.
anything could have been shown just depends if they felt like acting
No. The original Globe burned down in 1613. It was rebuilt it in 1614 and closed it in 1642. However, in 1997, a reconstruction of the Globe opened. They call it Shakespeare's Globe. A link to the official website is shown in related links.
