"For the Record" by Adrienne Rich is a poem that reflects on the limitations of language in conveying complex feelings and experiences. Rich uses the metaphor of a record player to explore the ways in which language can both communicate and obscure the truth of one's inner self. The poem ultimately suggests that true understanding and connection can only be achieved by going beyond words and engaging with one's innermost emotions and experiences.
