That there is only one set of duties as defined by the gods and that duties are defined by the state is the respective difference between Antigone's and Creon's views of private versus public duties in "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).
Specifically, Theban Princess Antigone considers all duties of Thebans in their private and public lives to be pre-defined by the gods. She therefore decides that a conflict between the private need for proper closure and the public need for governmental stability does not exist. This is in contrast to the views of her uncle King Creon. Creon maintains that private duties are controlled by the father figure as modeled on the king's role in the royal household and that public duties are controlled by the king who is answerable to no one.
Creon and Teiresias differ primarily in their roles and perspectives within "Antigone." Creon, as the ruler of Thebes, embodies the authority of law and state, prioritizing order and political power. In contrast, Teiresias, the blind prophet, represents wisdom and moral insight, warning Creon about the consequences of his hubris and the importance of honoring the divine laws. While Creon stubbornly clings to his decisions, Teiresias advocates for humility and the need to listen to divine guidance.
Because he encourages the insights of others Haemon differs in his concept of kingship from that of Creon in "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Theban Prince Haemon believes that a wise king accepts input from others and evaluates the impact of what he does. In contrast, his father, King Creon, considers no influence on royal decision-making and no impact other than strict enforcement and swift punishment. Haemon therefore sees kingship as a team work in progress whereas his father takes a one-man-rule approach.
That one is older and unwilling to share and that the other is younger and willing to stand up for what is right is the difference between Eteocles and Polyneices in "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Eteocles is the older of the twin brothers. He therefore gets the Theban crown and throne first in the power sharing arrangement whereby the twins alternate years of rule. But he does not like to share and refuses to honor Polyneices' legitimate claim when the first year is up. Polyneices becomes an exile, but manages to marry into the Argive royal house. With Argive support, he asserts his legitimate claim, but dies killing his brother during the final battle of the civil war over the Theban royal succession.

Neither Antigone nor Creon is presented sympatheticallyin "Antigone" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Theban Princess Antigone and King Creon are individuals whose viewpoints differ but whose way of acting is the same. For example, they can be interpreted as representing opposite sides on the issue of the separation of church and state. But they both disdain any convictions but their own. Individual personality differences may be a bit exaggerated to compare and contrast their differences and similarities. But the overall presentation rings quite realistically.
