Juliet feels ambivalent about the marriage proposal from Paris. While she is polite and agrees to consider him, she does not express genuine enthusiasm or desire for the union. The word Tragedy means "goat song" as often in early Greek Theatre a goat was sacrificed to the God of fertility, wine & harvest, Dionysus. Tragedies were written as a trilogy linking theme, characters & plot. Aristotle created the 5 rules of tragedy that still apply today. A tragedy is a moralistic story of what happens when man comes in conflict with the "Gods" or when man does not follow the laws of the Gods, then bad things will follow. They were designed so that the audience could have a "catharsis or spiritual purge", or a real good cry and inspire the people to live a better life.
A play could be all three. Hamlet, a tragedy by Shakespeare, and also a revenge play, is thought by some to be a "problem play" because it does not fit their definition in some way. And that is what makes people call plays "problem plays"--they have decided that plays have to follow certain rules which they made up, and when Shakespeare doesn't follow their rules it's a "problem". The only rules Shakespeare went by were: the people must like it and the government must tolerate it.
