It is ironic becuase he only killed them to make it look like they had done it. After that he realizes that was a big mistake as everyone doens't seem as positive as he does that the guards actually commited the crime.

Where was Duncan's murder supposed to take place in 'Macbeth'?

In the Shakespearean play 'Macbeth', the murder of King Duncan I [d. August 14, 1040] was supposed to take place in the Macbeths' home at Inverness Castle. Macbeth and his wife planned to murder their sovereign when he and his two royal guards would be most defenseless and vulnerable. He had made the journey from his palace at Forres, to Inverness. He had to get up early the next day to leave with Macduff and Lennox. He was tired, had just eaten his dinner, and was getting ready for bed in the rooms that the Macbeths had fixed up for him. Lady Macbeth had given his two royal chamberlains drugged drinks. The killing went as planned. The King and the guards were stabbed to death. When the bloodied corpses were discovered the next morning, the crime scene looked exactly the way that the Macbeths intended it to. It looked as though the guards had killed their sovereign and then each other in a fit of crazed drinking and drugging.

Why is the fact that a carnival takes place in the streets above the murder ironic in the cask of amontillado?

The fact that a carnival is taking place during the murder in "The Cask of Amontillado" is ironic because carnivals are typically associated with celebration, joy, and revelry, while the murder that occurs beneath it is dark, sinister, and vengeful. The stark contrast between the festive atmosphere above and the heinous act happening below adds to the overall unsettling and ironic tone of the story.

How does lady Macbeths understandings of her husbands character help her to convince him that the murder plot should be carried out?

Lady Macbeth has an understanding that her husband has no manhood and is a cowered. Thinking her husband is a cowered is what helps convince her that the murder plot should be carried out.

What would Lady Macbeth do as part of the plan to kill the king?

They plan to murder King Duncan. L.Macbeth and Macbeth plan to do this when the king is at their castle. He will be so tired after the long journey (from his castle to Macbeths`) and from the meal he will not notice anything. L.Macbeth plans to make the guards drunk and also give them drugs (so strong it might kill them). When they kill Macbeth then they will blame the guards: she would stain them with blood and place the daggers near them.
