Pavarotti happens to be my favourite. If I want to be inspired about something, I find the very best. Pavarotti has long been associated with "Nessun Dorma": he is truly "the" tenor for that piece; so that would make a good start. Further, I have heard him on Youtube doing a number of absolutely marvellous renditions of Schubert's version of "Ave Maria", especially when younger, during the 1970's and 1980's. I would suggest they are excellent material.
