If the company was traveling, an actor could be paid around 5 shilling s a week, while if they were in London, the pay could be as much as 10 shillings a week. Some companies paid even less to the young boys- sometimes as low as 3 shillings per week.
They performed every day, and premiered a new play every two weeks or so, if Henslowe's Diary is a good indicator. They rehearsed in the mornings, either to learn a new play or brush up an old one.
Shakespeare did not personally pay the actors. The company he belonged to was a partnership of around eight "sharers" who had each contributed money to the partnership and who each received a share of the profits. In addition to the partners, they had a bunch of employees, not only hired actors and apprentices (the boys who played the female parts) but also tiremen and other backstage workers. It is thought that Cuthbert Burbage, brother of the famous actor and one of the sharers, may have been the administrator of all this. Shakespeare, although it is clear that he had a good head for business, was probably busy enough writing and acting. The hired actors could expect to make seven shillings a week; the apprentices got about three shillings a week.
