Pamela Kalis (November 3, 1951-) is a singer/actress who was born in Chattanooga, TN. Her original career choice was that of a clown for Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus and she attended Florida State University's Flying High Circus to study circus arts. But when the curriculum proved to be too much for her fear of heights, she switched to the theater department. After graduation, she performed for major cruise lines, specifically Costa Lines and Sitmar Lines as a featured vocalist and performed in clubs throughout the United States and the Caribbean. She also toured on the straw hat circuit for many years in musical productions such as "Mame", "Gypsy", "Oliver" and "Girl Crazy". Miss Kalis retired from singing in 1978 to marry and raise her two children and she now resides in South Florida where she works as an Entertainment Director in the hospitality field.
P.T. Barnum started the first circus sideshow back in the 1800s. He started with a dime-museum (that's where you'd find the Feejee mermaid) and then eventually moved on to incorporating "live" acts (sword swallowers, human "oddities", etc.)
the fair, carnivals, circus or haunted houses
Actually you may think more people would get hurt in a circus then animals but you are wrong! Do you know how people train animals so well? They train them with abuse!!!! ANIMALS WERE NOT MEANT FOR THE CIRCUS!
I say that a circus has animals, clowns, and acrobats. A carnival is close to an amusement park because it has rides and attractions. It may have a freak show, and some really huge carnivals have a circus tent, such as a Big Top.
