They love each other so much, they just can't wait. Also, William Shakespeare only wanted a 2-hour play, so he elapsed time quite a bit. In real life, most couples would not get married so soon.

∙ 12y agothey ended up getting married so quickly because that's how it was in the olden days and also if they didnt do it fast Juliet would've never gotten to see her beloved Romeo. that is why they got married so quickly. once you understand what Shakespeare is telling you then you understand the concept of the story and why he writes what he writes.

∙ 14y agoThey meet the night of the party at Lord Capulet's place, then the next morning Romeo and Juliet go to Friar Lawrence and are quietly married. The marriage takes place at about noon, because the nurse says "I'll to dinner; hie you to the cell." So, maybe this is twelve hours after they meet.

∙ 12y agoIt seems pretty quick to us to get married within 24 hours of first meeting. But they were both head-over-heels in love and desperate to get their hands on each other.
You may say, "See? How much better for them if they had been sensible and waited." But what would have happened then? Romeo would be a lonely bitter old man in Mantua and Juliet would have been unhappily married to Paris. Maybe it was worth it for that one night in Juliet's bedroom. At least they had some joy in their lives.
