The citizens start to hate Brutus and Cassius for murdering Caesar. Antony mentions in his speech basically that Caesar cared for the poor and cried for and with them. Because of this, Brutus and Cassius go running for the gates of Rome to save themselves.
They were persuaded by both speeches. Brutus spoke reasonably and the crowd agreed reasonably with what he said. Antony appealed to their irrational emotions and the crowd became irrational and emotional. This had the result that the crowd became a mob, and went around the city, burning, looting and killing innocent people like Cinna the poet. This was obviously a bad result for Rome but was just what Antony wanted.
