A metaphor
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth seemed to bring out [B] the worst in each other. They both suffered from raging, uncontrollable ambition. Additionally, Macbeth easily could be manipulated, and his wife liked to manipulate.
When Capulet comes to Juliet's room after Romeo has left and finds her weeping, he compares her at length with a boat in a storm. This elaborate and over-coplex metaphor is a conceit. In one little bodyThou counterfeit'st a bark, a sea, a wind; For still thy eyes, which I may call the sea,Do ebb and flow with tears; the bark thy body is,Sailing in this salt flood; the winds, thy sighs;Who, raging with thy tears, and they with them,Without a sudden calm, will oversetThy tempest-tossed body. [III.v,130-7]
they all get nervous throughot the play because there is a murder and no one nows who it is-->Lady Macbeth started out as persuasive, manipulating, practical, organized, intelligent, but ambitious. The murder seriously affects her and eventually she becomes mad, she suffered from so much mental anguish that it incapacitated her.Macbeth started out as a hardworking, career military officer. He tried to do a good job, and liked the recognition of work well done. But raging, uncontrollable ambition led him more and more to the dark side. Ultimately, he became as focused, maniacal, and tunnel visioned as his wife previously had been. The more crimes he committed, the more mental he became.
In the play "Oedipus Rex," there is a large plague bestowed upon the city of Thebes as a severe punishment from the gods. The gods sent down the Sphinx, whose role was to punish the city with a plague for the currently unsolved murder of Theban King Laius. With this pestilence quickly spreading throughout the streets, people are dying in large numbers, cattle are sickening and perishing, women die in labor, children stillborn, the plant life and pastures are shriveling, as the Black Death 'luxuriates' in the raw, wailing miseries of Thebes. It also mentions in the play that the "fiery god of fever," who could be referred to as Ares, slashes his lightning through the city, raging plague in all of its vengeance, devastating the House of Cadmus, the founder of Thebes.
To show the evil that he has within him as well as the evil influences to which he so easily falls prey is the reason why Macbeth first is introduced to us through the witches in "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare (Baptized April 26, 1564-April 23, 1616).Specifically, the witches are not good witches. Macbeth is a brave, noble fighter in defense of his king and his country. He always tries to do a good job. He takes pride in doing his work well. So his fatal flaws are pride and raging, uncontrolled ambition. As much as he likes doing his job well, he likes even more being recognized and advanced for his performance. The more he receives, the more he wants, with the latter verb being used in both its senses (desiring, feeling the lack of).
