we studied this in my english11 class. and i find this poem really interesting.

gossip...

it's what "[curls] in the tongues / of housewives and clerks."

"with a taste for maidens / and movie stars..."

however, since you title is "python in the mall" i think what you have read is the revised version. the original title was "python in the megamall."

this was another manifestation of how gossips run, with its half-truths,

since this supposedly python took residence in a robinson's mall, and not the megamall.

if you could see the original version, take note of the last words of the lines...

"dank, gullibility, gasps, tongues...."

the words give us a mental image of gossips, right?
