Yes very unfortanly John Bardon (Jim Branning in EastEnders) is now dead in real life. He died at Romford Range Care Home in Collier Row, Romford Essex on 12 September 2014 age 75. But the character of Jim Branning is not yet dead in the soap but is most likely to be killed off the show in an off-screen death at somepoint in the very near future at an later date. So there for this means he may possibly have an on-screen funeral to mark the end of his character as A big tribute to the late actor. John had a stroke in 2007 just seven year's before his death, and also in EastEnders the character of Jim Branning suffered a stroke too. This is why Jim Branning had trouble speaking and walking as John Bardon couldn't walk for 6 months after the stroke and he had been trying to learn to talk as well as he did before the stroke. But unfortanly he did not really get any better and he will be very sadly missed.
